Guests who are looking for a taste of vacation heaven can find it in Kandaya Resort. Safely tucked in the northern part of Cebu in Agujo, Daanbantayan, the resort is often associated with the word “paradise.” Even former President Joseph Estrada used that very same word to describe the beauty of the resort. Accommodation

Kandaya Resort offers 18 rooms and 22 villas, all occupying seven hectares within 14 hectares of property. All 12 Deluxe Rooms, two Premiere Rooms, and four Ocean View Suites found in the resort’s main building.

Depending on what view and activities you have in plan for your luxurious break, any of the 22 villas can cater to your whims. There are six Garden Villas that come with a private landscaped garden, perfect for playing with your kids outside or getting some downtime reading your long-abandoned novels.

All three Garden Pool Villas feature a private pool each so you can splash all around for as long as you want without worrying about disrupting other guests and vice versa.

The resort’s six Beach Pool Villas boasts the best of both earlier mentioned villas with not only a private swimming pool but also an outdoor garden.

Its seven Ocean Pool Villas provide guests with an infinity pool and direct access to the beach, ideal for those who want to get in an early swim while the sun is not as scorching as in the later hours or a walk under the moonlight with sand on your bare feet.

The rooms have beds with high thread count sheets and even an in-room Nespresso machine. The glass walls of the rooms will ensure that you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the beach, even when you’re cozily sitting in your room.

Amenities

The resort, named after Datu Daya, the legendary ruler and protector of the old Bantayan, offers a variety of fun to guests. For one, the resort has a horseback riding facility, the Kuwadra. Guests can enjoy horseback riding along the beach and even some impromptu lessons for the uninitiated. It is totally normal to feel as though you are shooting a music video while you are on top of a horse gently galloping on the beach, with the crystal clear water coaxing you to take a dip after the exciting ride. And the kids won’t feel left out as there is also a Pony Club offering educational, arts and crafts activities for hours.

If you don’t want to miss out on your physical regimen, the Kandaya Resort also boasts of a state-of-the-art gym, yoga studio, Crossfit and boxing facilities, and a mixed martial arts gym. Those who want to sweat it out through sports, the resort has a basketball court, tennis court, and even a volleyball net out on the beach. Guests can also entertain themselves in the resort’s game room, which features a pool table and a few ping pong tables.

There are plenty of water sports activities to engage in as well, from kayaking and snorkeling to diving and canoeing. You can also take a boat or jetski to the nearby Malapascua Island or the Monad Shoal, where divers may spot thresher sharks before sunrise.

To relax, the Daya spa offers different kinds of massages, from Shiatsu and Daya hilot to deep tissue and its signature cowrie shells massage. It also provides foot reflexology and a back massage. For beauty rejuvenation and some pampering, Daya spa offers facials, manicure, pedicure, and scrubs and wraps.

For dining, the resort’s dining outlet and bar, called the Kusina, awes patrons with its main decoration, a design inspired by the pukot, a traditional Filipino fishing net. The restaurant serves international and local cuisines and the healthy and delicious kamunggay (moringa) bread. What’s even more amazing is Kusina’s “farm to table” scheme, as it obtains its organic produce from local its in-house garden, Hardin ni Milagros, and other local sources.
The open-air bar is just perfect for those who want to sit back and enjoy their drink, while indulging in the panoramic view of the Visayan Sea.

Proximity

Kandaya Resort is only a few kilometers away from the Maya Malapascua Ferry Terminal. It is also close to the Medellin Town Museum, the Medellin Parish Church, and the Medellin Municipal Hall. Guests who want to indulge in the golf course would be happy to learn that the Queens Island Golf Club and the Mercedes Plantation Golf & Country Club are less than 35 km away.

How to Get There

The resort offers transportation services from the Mactan International Airport. They may fetch guests using a van for six persons max, with varied rates for one-way or round trip transportation. Kandaya Resort also offers a 25-minute private helicopter ride for four persons max. Transportation comes with drinks, snacks, and an assurance of a safe and pleasant trip to the resort.
