After 20 long years of partnership, AyalaLand Hotels and Resorts Corporation (AHRC) announced that its management contract with Marriott International Hotels over running Cebu City Marriot Hotel will end on December 31, 2017. The hotel will stop business operations on January 1, 2018, after two decades of helping boost the expansion of the Cebu Business Park.

AHRC will transfer hotel management rights to its own hotel brand Seda, which will reopen the hotel in 2018 with improved amenities and rooms.

“Seda, which now has 1,255 rooms throughout the country, is ready to fill the needs of Cebu Business Park locators and visitors,” said AHRC president and CEO Al Legaspi.

The hotel has remained consistent in terms of its performance in serving guests since it started operating in 1997, he added.

“The Cebu City Marriott Hotel helped to affirm the reputation of the Cebu Business Park in its growing years as the premier business district of the city, as well as the region,” Legaspi said.

Ayala’s wholly-owned Seda hotel brand was established in 2012 and has since managing hotels in various cities all over the country, such as in Cagayan de Oro City, Davo City, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City, Quezon City, Nuvali in Laguna, and Iloilo City.

Seda’s biggest hotels in the country is located in Quezon City, with its 438 rooms, presidential suite, and ballroom and new additions to the list are expected with the brand’s aggressive goal to expand and grow its hotel room inventory two times more than it is now.

But this upcoming take-over of the management duties of the Cebu City Marriott Hotel will make it the biggest Seda hotel in the Visayas, something that Legaspi described as appropriate, considering Cebu being the central commerce and business zone.

Aside from appointing Seda to manage Cebu City Marriott Hotel, AHRC will build Seda hotel and serviced apartments at Cebu IT Park, the first of its kind located outside Metro Manila.

Both Seda hotels follow the brand’s principle of choosing a strategic location near restaurants and shops right at the center of an Ayala Land mixed-use development and offering world-class service.
