CarCar City, City of Heritage

Adjacent to this City of Lights is Carcar City, just a few kilometers away and a 20-peso air-cool PUJ/mini-bus ride.

Just through the boundary, you are coolly greeted with century-old Acacia trees hovering the national road to a stretch of a kilometer making it a cool blanket from a hot road trip. Carcar City as an ancestry and legacy to the province of Cebu and also a home to various Spanish to American period structures.

One landmark heritage of the city is the Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria which was built by the Augustinians between 1860-1875. The city faith icon roughly dominates the area. You can easily see Spanish regime and well preserved ancestral houses around the vicinity just along the highway and can handily point out their distinctive architectural details. The said holy edifice is just situated near the highway before the Rotunda landmark.

A break within the city wouldn’t be outright without the crispy sampling of its tasty Lechon. Usually beach goers do stop by and purchase a piece amounting from 4,500 to 7,000.
